아수스 eee슬레이트 : ASUS eee slate (EP121)

아직도 잔고장 하나 없이 잘 돌아가지만, 슬슬 무거운 프로그램을 돌리기 어려워지고, 결정적으로 XP의 한계가 눈에 띄기 시작하는지라 새로운 노트북을 질러버렸다.

It works great, but limitations of XP forced me to buy a new laptop.

인터넷 강의를 들으려면 윈도우 기반 노트북이어야 하는 관계로 애플 제품군은 탈락.
터치 기능이 있는 제품을 워낙 오래 써와서 반드시 타블렛 기능을 제공할것.
무게는 한손으로 들고 작업할 수 있는 1~1.5kg 내외.
이정도 조건을 다 만족시키는 물건을 찾기란 쉬운 일이 아니다.
Apple products were all discarded from the list because I must use MS windows platform for e-learning class.
Tablet function is required.
Less then 2~3lb.
It is not easy to find a laptop that satisfies all conditions.

그러다 아수스에서 만든 eee 슬레이트를 발견했는데, 이게 바로 딱인 물건.
아마존에서 64기가 모델을 1100$정도에 판매하길래 낼름 주문해버렸다.
Then, I found eee slate, which is made by ASUS. This is it!
64gb model was about 1100$ at Amazon.com, so I bought it immedeatly.

일단 컴퓨팅 파워가 압권이다. 인텔 i5, 4기가 램, 64기가 SSD. 10초만에 부팅이 가능하다.
무게도 1킬로그램대 초반. 게다가 12인치 화면.
압력감지가 가능한 와콤 타블렛 탑재.
The strongest point is its computing power. Intel i5 proccessor, 4g ram and 64g SSD allows '10sec booting.'
Light weight even though it has 12inch screen.
Wacom tablet is installed, so it can senses pressure.

세세한 부분에서 좀 아쉬움이 남긴 한다.
배터리는 내장형이라 교체가 불가능하고, 가죽 가방에는 가방끈도 좀 달고 수납공간도 줬으면 좋았을뻔 했고, 그래픽카드는 다른 부품들에 비해 현저하게 성능이 떨어진다.
There are some frustrations in detail.
Battery is installed inside, so I can't exchange it. Pouch is too heavy and there is no strap, no additional storage space. Graphic has remarkably low performance.

하지만 전반적으로 보면 잘 만든 물건이다.
가볍고, 다용도로 쓸 수 있으며, 은근 멋있게 보인다.
키보드, 마우스, 헤드셋을 모두 블루투스로 맞춰서 사용하면 데스크탑 버금가는 환경이 만들어지는듯.
But, overall, it is a nice product.
Light weight, multi functional and looking cool. 
I can make almost same working environment with bluetooth mouse, bluetooth keyboard, bluetooth headset and this tablet.
